The business of "Media" matters first for self-preservation.
Let's be honest here. No one establishes a "media business" without intending to stay. The fact of "staying" enlarges the business.
Second, the profitable revenue side of a media business makes the "staying" possible.
When the media business can't sustain it's costs, the content (media) no longer matters.
So, honestly, "money talks, everything else walks."
The Media matters to advertisers, subscribers (to a lesser extent) and other revenue sources. Entities who pay the Media to matter, expect the Media to matter for them and their customers.
